The Maritime Employers Association (MEA) reported on February 26 that they had successfully negotiated a new six-year agreement with 140 checkers at the Port of Montreal, represented by the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), Local 1657.

The MEA reports as follows on the negotiations.

After an intensive 48-hour negotiation session, both parties have reached a 6-year agreement that has been ratified by over 80% of the members.

This agreement reflects the willingness of both parties to work together to make the Port of Montreal more competitive and contribute to its growth.
