Both SLSMC and Unifor have announced that, despite negotiations continuing to the deadline, no agreement on wages as been reached and the strike commenced at 0001 hours this morning.
At this morning’s briefing by SLSMC, they report that negotiations are continuing even though the strike has started.
SLSMC is waiting for a ruling from the Canada Industrial Relations Board on the movement of grain as required by section 87.7 of the Canada Labour Code.
The SLSMC will be continuing with its daily morning briefings, which FMA attends, and we will keep the membership informed as new information becomes available.
