CN has announced ratification of the agreement with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) covering approximately 6,000 running trade workers, which includes Locomotive Engineers, Conductors, Yard Conductors, and Yard Coordinators working on CN’s mainline, short-lines and yards, in Canada. This new single contract replaces a number of separate contracts CN had with its various running trades.

In 2022, CN filed an application with the Canada Industrial Labour Relations Board (CIRB) to consolidate a number of contracts with various running trades into a single contract. This meant that various agreements that expired in 2022 would remain in force until the CIRB decision was made and a new collective agreement for the consolidated running trades could be concluded. On September 29, 2022, the CIRB announced its decision to order the consolidation into one collective agreement.

On April 23rd CN announced that a tentative agreement had been reached with the TCRC. This agreement has now been ratified by the union membership
