The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) issued a letter on May 28 setting out the ELD implementation process that will be followed in Ontario beginning with the coming-into-force date of June 12, 2021.
The letter focuses on the recommended approach to the enforcement strategy developed by the federal-provincial Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) for all Canadian jurisdictions.
It follows the federal recommendation of “progressive enforcement” with no penalties until June 12, 2022, one year after the coming-into-force date of June 12, 2021.
