The area from northwestern Ontario through to Alberta is experiencing severe winter conditions that are impacting rail operations on CN, CP and western Canadian short line railways. Train length restrictions and delays are expected. The following bulletin from CP provides details on the impacts that they are experiencing.
CP Customer Advisory February 8 – Extreme Cold Weather
Due to the extreme cold from the Prairie operating region (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba) to Northern Ontario, North Dakota and Minnesota, CP’s winter operating plan and train length restrictions have been enacted. Customers may expect near term delays of up to 48 hours. We encourage customers to build additional time into their plans as the cold weather is expected to continue throughout this week.
