The Commercial Vehicle Drivers Hours of Service Regulations have been amended to require certified Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) to be installed in vehicles owned by federally regulated motor carriers by June 12, 2021.

In October, the Minister of Transport announced that the first independent certification body had been accredited by Transport Canada and the Standards Council of Canada. This will now lead to accreditation of devices from various suppliers.
FMA arranged with Transport Canada for a briefing to the FMA membership by Ibrahima Sow, Executive Director, Road Safety and Vehicle Registration on November 26.
