The AAR Carloading and Intermodal Statistics for the week ending May 2 have been published.

North American rail volume for the first 18 weeks of 2020 was 11,401,713 carloads and intermodal units, down 9.9% compared with 2019.

Canadian railroads reported 67,952 carloads for the week, down 23.8%, and 69,551 intermodal units, down 6.2% compared with the same week in 2019.

For the first 18 weeks of 2020, Canadian railroads reported cumulative rail traffic volume of 2,532,358 carloads, containers and trailers, down 5.8%. The detailed statistics for week 18 can be found at the red bar below.
