The House of Commons agenda for today, April 27, states that the Commons will debate Notice Paper item 88A beginning at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.

It is understood that this is not the debate on the back to work legislation, but on the proposed fast-track process outlined in the Notice Paper. The objective is to get Parliamentary approval for the fast-track process.

The Notice Paper, No. 88A can be found at the following website link. https://www.ourcommons.ca/DocumentViewer/en/43-2/house/sitting-88A/order-notice/page-8

The back-to-work Bill is entitled “An Act to provide for the resumption and continuation of operations at the Port of Montreal”.

There are unconfirmed reports that it is expected that the Bill will be tabled in the House of Commons tomorrow, assuming the fast-track process is approved today.

Meanwhile, the weekend work stoppage continued on this past weekend and the general strike started yesterday. Also, the Labour Canada mediators summoned the parties to meet yesterday, but there are no reports on that meeting and it s not known if the mediation sessions are continuing.
